The red deer - unlike the roe deer - prefers rather cooler temperatures to start the mating season. The red deer rut takes place from mid-September to early October. In the mountains, this can vary somewhat. The rut of the red deer is every year again a fantastic nature experience for eyes and ears. But the rut can also be optimally used for hunting the red deer.
